What is REET?

Rajasthan Eligibility Examination for Teacher-REET, also known as Rajasthan Teacher Eligibility Test (RTET), is a state level competitive exam which is conducted only by the Board of Secondary Education Rajasthan -BSER to certify candidates and aspirants for employment as teachers in the state.

The REET exam is conducted to recruit basically teachers for two different levels, namely Level I, also known as Primary Teacher, and Level II or Upper Primary Teacher. Thus, those who can clear REET become eligible for the post of teachers in classes 1 to 5 and for classes 6 to 8 in schools and institutions of the state. Furthermore, as per the updated rules declared by the Rajasthan government for the examination, only Basic School Teaching Certificate-BSTC holders are allowed to appear in the REET Level-1 examination.

Also, to prioritize state students, the exam questions will now be related more to Rajasthan only. Moreover, it has also been decided that only the REET score will only constitute 90% of the weightage against the current 70%. In comparison, the rest, 10%, would be assessed based on marks scored in graduation or the scores of the Senior Secondary exam.
